Sailing my Alacrity 19 with autopilot

En härlig dag varmt, skönt och blåsigt. Vind från syd.-sydväst ca 6-9 m/s och mer därtill i byarna. Det brallade på ganska bra och som mest var jag uppe i 5,5 knop vilket inte är illa för en 19-fotare. Seglade med revat storseglel och det var nog ett bra val. Extra kul var det på vägen hem från "Skratten". Jag seglade ikapp och förbi en Maxi 68:a och håll sedan den på avstånd hela vägen in till bryggan, det är ju inte illa för en liten 19-fots tvåkölad segelbåt med revat segel.

A beautiful day warm, cozy and breezy. Wind from south.-southwest about 6-9 m / s and somtimes much more. It was somtimes realy windy, and at most I was up in 5.5 knots which isn't bad for a 19 footer. Sailed with reefed mainsail and that was probably a good choice. Extra fun was on the way home from "Skratten". I lde catch up and passed a Maxi 68 and then hold it at a distance all the way to the bridge, it's not bad for a small 19-foot twin keeled sailboat with reefed sails.

Respetacble performance

In 1960, Hurley Marine followed the bilge-keel route and started selling the Alacrity 19 (also marked by Russel Marine), This attractive little yacht started off as a cold moulded plywood 18-footer, but then grow one foot and ‘went plastic’. Its twin keels draw 1ft 10in and produce a 32% ballast ratio of 19, this means a respectable level of performance for a twin-keeler, and a simple three-berth cabin makes her an excellent little weekender. If you are consider a GRP Silhouette, don’t forget to give the Alacrity a look.

Sjösatt: Launched

I år sjösatte jag båten 3 dagar tidigare än förra året. Här ligger hon nu med nya fönster och med nya segel. Förseglet är monterat med på en rulle, nytt för i år. Rullen var jätte enkel att montera, tog mig ca 20 minuter totalt. En första provtur hann jag med också, dagen efter sjösättningen. Blåste ganska mycket men båten pinnande på ganska bra. Jag har en ny knopmätare och kompass som går på GPS, som bäst seglade jag ca 5 knop vilket var förvånandsvärt fort. Nu ska jag montera autiopilot och byta ut motorn till en ny 4-taktare.

This year, I launched the boat three days earlier than last year. Here she is now with new windows and new sails. The headsail is fitted with a roll, new this year. The roll was really easy to install, took me about 20 minutes total. I sailed the day after launching. Windy but the boat sailed on quite well. I have a new speedometer and compass that goes on GPS, as best I sailed about 5 knots, which was surprisingly fast. Now I will mount autopilot and replace engine with a new 4-strokes.
